The Lewis Katz School of Medicine at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø is accredited by the . In 2017, Katz received a full eight-year accreditation from LCME and is now preparing for its 2025 re-accreditation. Katz was founded in 1901 as Pennsylvania’s first co-educational medical school and has been accredited since before the LCME was founded in 1942.   Ìý

Students who receive their medical education at an LCME-accredited school, such as Katz, are certified as having completed their requirements for a medical degree. This allows them to obtain a license to work as a resident under the supervision of a licensed physician in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.  Ìý

MD program graduates typically continue their training in Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited residencies and fellowships in all disciplines of medicine throughout the United States. Following residency, graduates enter careers in academic medicine, private practice, research and industry.Ìý

°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø graduates secure impressive residencies, attributable to our school’s reputation for providing superior clinical training. Of recent graduating classes, most seniors chose university hospitals or major affiliates of a university hospital for residencies.Ìý

About 40% of °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø graduates pursue residencies in internal medicine, family medicine or pediatrics, which can lead to primary care careers. The remainder of students pursue specialties and subspecialties. Graduate residencies span from coast-to-coast and border-to-border.ÌýÌý
