Scholarships & Financial Aid听听

Students at the School of Podiatric Medicine may apply for scholarships, loans and university funding from a variety of sources to help pay for their degree. Approximately 90% of students receive some form of financial aid from TUSPM, which offers 澳门六合彩官网 fund-administered scholarships and non-澳门六合彩官网 scholarships to incoming and current students who meet the criteria.

General scholarships are open to students in all years. TUSPM also offers 澳门六合彩官网 fund-administered scholarships to students in a specific class year.听

First-year Scholarships

James F. Donovan, DPM Memorial Scholarship Fund:听The fund is created in memory of James F. Donovan, DPM, who for more than 30 years was the embodiment of General Podiatry Practice Ownership. The fund will be used to provide scholarships for first-year TUSPM students with demonstrated financial need.
Allen E. Forsythe Memorial Scholarship Fund:听Established in 1999 by a bequest from Allen Forsythe, DPM听鈥�37, to provide scholarships for incoming podiatry students who have excellent academic credentials and financial need.
Georgia Student Scholar Aid Fund:听Established by E. Dalton McGlamry, DPM听鈥�54, to provide scholarships for first-year podiatry students from the state of Georgia who demonstrate leadership and financial need.
Goldsmith-Greenfield Scholarship Fund:听Established in 1992 by the Goldsmith-Greenfield Foundation to provide scholarships for first-year podiatry students who have excelled as undergraduates and who demonstrate financial need.
Gilbert Master, DPM 鈥�38,听Scholarship Fund:听Established in 1992 by Bernard Master to provide scholarships to first-year podiatry students based on academic excellence and involvement with school activities.

Second-year Scholarships

Mary Kay Akerman Memorial Scholarship Fund:听The purpose of the fund is to provide an annual scholarship to a high-ranking second-year student enrolled in the school who is a resident of Western Pennsylvania.
Lynn Catapano, POD 鈥�86,听Memorial Scholarship Fund:听Established in 1992 by family, friends and classmates to provide scholarships for second-year podiatry students.
Class of 1989 Clinical Instruments Scholarship Fund:听Established in 1989 by members of the Class of 1989 to provide for scholarships to help second-year podiatry students pay for clinical instruments.
G. Elmer Harford, DPM 鈥�32, Memorial Scholarship Fund:听Established in 1993 through a bequest by G. Elmer Hartford, 鈥�32, 鈥�34, to provide scholarships for second-year podiatry students who excel in anatomical sciences.
Herbert Rothfeld, DPM Scholarship:听Established in 1998 to provide scholarships for second-year podiatry students who have the highest grade point average in anatomy.
Thomas S. Union听Sr. and Family Scholarship Fund:听Established in 1995 by Thomas S. Union听Jr., DPM听鈥�68, and Joseph M. Union, DPM听鈥�74, to provide scholarships to second-year podiatry students who are residents of Georgia and demonstrate leadership, high academic ability and financial need.
Gartha E. Wolfe听Memorial Scholarship Fund:听Established in 1989 through a bequest from Wolfe to provide scholarships for second-year podiatry students in the top half of the class who demonstrate financial need.
Elias and听Kiki Vekkos Memorial Scholarship Fund:听The purpose of the fund is to award $2,000 annually to a second-year podiatry student with financial need who is enrolled in TUSPM and who has overcome personal hardship. Established by Renee Vekkos听and听Leonard Vekkos.

Each year, TUSPM students are awarded a number of private non-澳门六合彩官网 fund-administered awards not identified on this page. Students are encouraged to visit their email accounts or the for notification of such opportunities.

How to Apply 听

Incoming first-year students will be considered for scholarships as part of the application process and need not apply.听听

Current TUSPM students should print and submit the scholarship application to the Office of Student Affairs by June 1. .

Federal Direct Student Loan

Direct Unsubsidized Loan

This loan is designed to provide additional funds to the student when expenses are not met by other educational funding. A first- and second-year professional student can borrow up to $40,500;听third and fourth year, up to $47,167 annually. The interest rate is fixed at 6.8%. Interest accrues from the time funds are issued. Interest payments, however, do not need to be made until the loan goes into repayment.听

Direct Graduate PLUS Loan

Health Professions Student Loan (HPSL)

This Federal loan program provides low-interest (5% fixed) loans to students in need. No interest accrues while the student is in school. These loans are provided from revolving funds at TUSPM and are awarded through the Office of Student Financial Services to students with demonstrated exceptional financial need. Income information regarding the student鈥檚 parents is required if the student wishes to be considered for this loan.

Federal Work-study
